Description

So on the day Portal was supposed to be at my house I went to the front porch to check for the package...I didn't get my package on its actual due date, but I uh...did find something else.

First I seen a dead baby bird on our carport, I stopped to look and be sad about it for a moment, then I noticed that there was something else moving about in the grass nearby...and it was, yet another baby bird-only this one was obviously alive and a LOT smaller than the dead one.
Usually, I would just walk on by, I know its best to leave baby birds or any other animal where they are, but something was telling me to not do that this time and the little baby was really moving around opening its mouth for food and was really fighting for survival out there on the cold wet ground. I had my mother do some research, and I got a syringe of honey and warm water to feed it with...and rubber gloves-can't touch anything foreign without rubber gloves ;0 Somewhere during my feeding it I started calling it Bosco Bird and then he took what appeared to be a nap.
Eventually dad came home and we got a ladder and put the little guy back in his nest. Eventually I caught Mama Robin up there too, and she never pushed Bosco out, so I assume he's still up there doing the Bosco thing.

Later on I did some research and there is a bird that lays eggs in robin nests-the robin usually rejects that chick by pushing it out, sadly the lazy mom bird checks up on her chick and if the Robin has rejected that baby, she'll destory the actual Robin chicks too. That said bird hangs around cattle (which SURROUND my home practically) and so it seems likely that thats what happened, being that the other chick was huge and Mother Robin is still caring for Bosco rather than kicking it out again.

Mom mentioned that she thought Bosco was a girl (just a gut feeling I suppose) so if so, she has a very manly name...to humor myself, I drew an adult Bosco as female.

Good luck Bosco, if you make it through your first year, PLEASE don't nest near my house, I can't handle any more demanding featherless chicks.
