Honestly, I think some of you just get on IMDB and dog movies because if you can't find ALL the negative attributes in it, you aren't a critic. Blah blah.
Sinister wasn't my favorite movie ever, but it certainly wasn't the worst movie of 2012...Bagul was kinda cool in my opinion. I follow him on twitter

Sinister’ ‘Baghul‘ is in fact the ancient Punic-Carthaginian god Ba‘al, Devourer of children, known in his various manifestations as Ba‘al-Moloch or Ba‘al-Ammon (or Hammon). The plural of the Hebrew Ba’al is Ba’alim Your fine painting above is very similar to some classic images of Ba’al Moloch/Ammon receiving children in sacrifice. There is also a horrifying description of these sacrifices (and a description of Ba‘al/Baghul and the entire theology of the ancient Carthaginian Ba‘alim) in the 13th chapter of Gustav Flaubert‘s terrific novel Salammbô - unfortunately little known in the English-speKing world. Sinister is a favourite movie of mine which I often watch. It contains deep currents of meaning and symbolism which most viewers and all crticis seeem to have missed.
Good work!
